Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) Can Be Prevented!
Services We Offer
The key to preventing RSI comes from individuals' ability to become aware of the stresses and strains to their bodies as they work. RSI is caused by the way employees use their bodies.

Most ergonomic safety training is focused on "the proper hardware" and how to position yourself with respect to that hardware. The employee comes away with the burden of mimicking a rigid image from an ergonomic poster.

Ergonomic Safety Solutions (ESS) specializes in the human side of RSI prevention safety education. We teach your employees strain awareness and provide them with the essential tools and techniques to help themselves take charge of reducing the possibility of RSI.

RSI Prevention Workshop • Essential Safety Tools
There are two main causes of employee RSI:

Improper performance of repetitive tasks such as typing, and Mis-alignment of the employees to their work surfaces, i.e., the position of their hands relative to their keyboards. When either of these risk factors is present, it can lead to RSI.

A properly trained employee is the key to preventing RSI. Most injured employees have unknowingly created their own injuries.

Unfortunately, the majority of RSI prevention education is focused on properly configured furniture. Not enough emphasis is placed on the employees’ responsibility to minimize RSI by improving their work habits. Often correcting a single misalignment or bad work habit can prevent an injury.

The workshop will provide employees with the following essentials of ergonomic injury prevention and stress management. :

  • How to set up their workstations for ergonomic effectiveness using their existing components.
  • Easy-to-use keyboard and mouse techniques to instantly reduce strain on wrists, arms and necks.
  • Fundamentals of physiology, body mechanics and self-awareness.
  • Quick-fix stress management stretches and self-massage that workers can do at their desks.

In most cases this two-hour workshop is a prerequisite for a workstation evaluation and set-up consultation.

Controlling Employee Health Care Costs
The number of workers suffering computer-related injuries has risen dramatically with the increased use of personal computers in the workplace. Experts call Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and tendinitis the “epidemic of the ‘90’s.” RSI is now the number one worker’s compensation claim filed. RSI directly impacts your company’s profitability, reduces employee productivity and lowers morale. In fact, the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health recently disclosed that the 1996 annual corporate bill for RSI claims was $13 billion. This is becoming a crippling cost to American businesses.
